About the Role
Whiskey Creek Trucking is seeking experienced an experienced AZ Driver (Long Haul) who thrives in remote and northern driving environments. This position is ideal for skilled drivers who value independence, professionalism, and the challenge of long-distance routes across Eastern and Northern Canada.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial trucks across various routes, ensuring timely delivery of freight, and maintaining compliance with all safety regulations. This position offers an opportunity to work with diverse cargo types, including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and more, utilizing a range of specialized equipment. The AZ Truck Driver plays a vital role in maintaining our company's reputation for reliable and efficient freight delivery.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailer, including manual transmission trucks, safely across long-haul routes
- Navigate remote, rural, and northern road conditions
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks when necessary.
- Transport various types of cargo, including, flatbed loads, Dryvans and floats.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and other required documentation.
- Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic laws and safety standards.
- Assist with route planning to optimize efficiency and safety during deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with dispatcher regarding delivery schedules or issues that arise during transit.
Requirements
- Valid AZ license (clean abstract preferred), with 3–5 years minimum experience driving in remote or northern regions
- Experience operating trucks with manual transmissions is preferred.
- Knowledge of different truck types
- Strong knowledge of long-haul safety practices
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Reliable transportation to reach the Cochrane starting point
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or other equipment as needed.
- Prior experience with tractor-trailers or freight transport involving load securement is desirable.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and compliance with transportation regulations.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively during long hauls or multiple deliveries.
