The Provincial Inclusive Child Care (ICC) program was developed to provide resources and supports to licensed child care programs and approved family day homes, to enable programs to include children who have extra support needs. ICC supports include on-site consultation, Pyramid Model training and coaching, navigation, and an online resource bank. Midwest Family Connections has a full-time position available to serve their ICC Regions, which includes North Central and Central Alberta. MFC’s main office is in Lloydminster however this position will be located central to the region in which it serves. The preferred candidate will be located in the Vegreville or Camrose areas. A Remote Work Agreement is available and requires a private and secure home office.
Responsibilities
The role of the ICC Coach is to assist the child care program in utilizing the ICC supports to increase the program’s capacity to include a child who has extra support needs. In their work, coaches will follow the Consultation Model, which is an evidence-informed practice for working in early childhood settings, and assist the program with setting goals, developing an action plan, implementing support strategies and achieving positive outcomes. The Coach will use their knowledge of child development and expertise in inclusive practices in early childhood settings to support program staff to complete their goals. The Coach will use evidence-based measurement tools to support the development of high-quality inclusive environments for children. Excellent communication and documentation skills; facilitation and collaborative problem-solving skills; as well as critical and strategic thinking are essential to be successful in this position.
Qualifications & Considerations:
- minimum of a two-year diploma in Early Childhood Development, Family Support or a related trauma-informed field. A degree and childcare experience in inclusive settings is preferred.
- must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends when needed.
- must provide a current criminal record and vulnerable sector, and complete a Child & Youth Information System check.
- must be prepared for extensive travel regularly and in all seasons of the year and must possess a valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle. Overnight travel is required for training events but is not extensive.
