Overview
This position performs essential manual tasks, including tending to poultry, operating machinery, and may also plant / harvest crops. Work may be outdoors or inside barns. This is a physically demanding role that may require heavy lifting and long hours.
Tasks
- Handling and caring for poultry
- Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops
- Monitoring animal health; removing any trapped, sick or dead birds
- Gathering eggs; packing and operating equipment
- Running manure belts and adjusting litter depth when necessary
- Monitoring and removing pests
- Keeping the barn clean, which includes manure removal and blow down
- Maintaining sick pens for injured birds
- Disinfect pens, barns or poultry houses
- Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
- Perform general farm maintenance on caging equipment, including installations when necessary
- Maintain livestock performance records; write daily basic progress reports; keep logs and maintain records
- Other duties i.e. equipment maintenance, general cleaning maintenance, loading and unloading trucks/trailers

Skills and Experience Required
Education
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience
- No education or experience required, however, 6-12 months of previous experience

Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely. Jobs are available at Mapleton.
