Communications Specialist (Project-Based)
Role Overview
- Core Focus: This role spearheads the tailored marketing, design, asset assembly, and print/digital production management for specific events and standalone organizational projects.
Time Commitment and Availability
- Hours: Hours vary depending on the active project lifecycle.
- Volume: Encompasses approximately 5 distinct projects per fiscal year, with an anticipated allocation of 40 hours per project.
- Availability: Must be available on Monday mornings during projects and peak season.
Compensation
Key Responsibilities
- Media Design: Create accessible, impact-driven digital and print media, like posters, programs, brochures, and booklets.
- Accessibility Standards: Prioritize legibility using readable fonts and checking colour contrasts with web tools.
- Print Production Management: Set up print-ready files that account for standard commercial page-impositions, trims, crops, and bleeds.
- Asset Management: Act as the primary contact for artists when gathering media (text, headshots, promos).
- Timeline Management: Create and keep a schedule that accounts for asset collection, design, internal approvals, and final distribution:
- ○ Major Campaigns: launch public materials at least 2 months before major campaigns like Artist Calls and Ticket Launches.○ Internal Approvals: Secure final internal approval 3-4 days before publication.
- Prototyping: Develop templates and design proofs
- Copyediting: Enforce style uniformity, verify artist names/pronouns, and ensure proper media usage rights and attributions.
Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour
