Position Overview:
As a Business Development Specialist, you will have the opportunity to establish and grow long-term relationships with new and existing Métis Entrepreneurs and Communities. Your passion for business, as well as your entrepreneurial spirit and skill, allows you to support your clients and provide advice regarding their business needs. Applying your mindset for external marketing and client acquisition, you will develop new business, deepen client relationships, and help Métis business clients succeed.
What will you do?
- Meet with entrepreneurs, clients and prospects and discuss with them the specifics of their business and identify a CCDF service offering appropriate to their needs.
- Analyze, negotiate, structure and present high-quality loan proposals while exercising sound judgement.
- Manage and maintain a portfolio of Métis entrepreneurs.
- Be active in your business communities by effectively networking with various associations, financial institutions, government agencies and chambers of commerce to develop business relationships and obtain references that will facilitate new client acquisitions.
- Support business growth through the development and coordination of marketing materials and activities using traditional and social media mediums.
- Provide presentations to entrepreneurs and communities.
- Serve as a representative of the CCDF at conferences, seminars, workshops, committees, and other gatherings. Assisting in brand development while maintaining a consistent brand image.
- Lead the organization of conferences, training seminars, and workshops for Métis entrepreneurs.
- Willingness to travel to communities and visit clients frequently in assigned portfolios.
What are we looking for?
- An Undergraduate degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in commerce or business administration.
- Experience in small business or commercial lending would be an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to work independently, while also participating collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize and complete deliverables with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn other programs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Self-starter with strong sense of accountability and initiative and demonstrated flexibility and adaptability.
Preference for this position may be given to a Métis applicant.
A driver’s license as well as access to a vehicle will be required. Final candidates for this position will be required to undergo security screening, including a credit and criminal record check.
