This is an exciting opportunity to make a visible impact by leading people, improving processes, and ensuring our yard operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and quality standards.
Location: Richmond, BC
Schedule: onsite, Monday to Friday, 6:30am start.
Compensation:
- $90K - $100K salary (flexible based on experience)

Responsibilities:
- Be a Safety Champion
- Lead by example and promote a proactive, safety-first culture across the yard.
- Conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits.
- Facilitate monthly safety meetings and support ongoing safety initiatives.
- Ensure employees receive required safety and equipment training.
- Participate in developing and implementing safe work procedures and best practices.
- Lead and Inspire Teams
- You will be responsible for building, developing, and motivating a strong workforce while maintaining accountability and performance excellence.
- Supervise 10–20 employees during normal operations and up to 50 employees during major shutdowns.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily and weekly work activities.
- Manage temporary workers and contractors as required.
- Oversee staffing needs, including vacations, absenteeism, overtime, and timekeeping.
- Support onboarding, training, coaching, and employee development.
- Provide performance feedback and address day-to-day employee relations matters.
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and respectful work environment.
- Drive Operational Excellence
- Working closely with Production, Maintenance, and other departments, you'll help keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.
- Coordinate yard activities to support plant production and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure exceptional housekeeping and environmental compliance throughout the facility.
- Monitor safe operation of mobile equipment and ensure incidents or equipment defects are promptly addressed.
- Support plant performance goals through effective planning, execution, and resource management.
- Manage departmental resources and budgets responsibly.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall performance.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education or a combination of education and relevant industrial leadership experience.
- Preference given to candidates with studies in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a heavy industrial environment.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office; SAP experience is considered an asset.
- Successful candidates must comply with all safety requirements and the proper use of company-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators where required.
- Employees required to wear respiratory protection must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to successfully complete fit testing requirements.
