R Line Utility Construction Inc is looking for an experienced and highly skilled Fibre Optic Splicer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre optic networks. The ideal candidate is comfortable working at heights, familiar with modern splicing technologies, and willing to travel for out-of-town projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform aerial fibre optic splicing utilizing bucket trucks and ladders, as well as underground splicing.
- Prepare and splice both loose tube and ribbon fibre optic cables.
- Accurately read and interpret fibre schedules, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
- Operate an Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) proficiently to test and troubleshoot network issues.
- Complete basic daily reporting, including test results and progress logs.
- Maintain splicing equipment, tools, and company vehicles, ensuring they are kept clean and in good working order.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to all industry safety standards.
Must-Have Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of proven, hands-on experience in fibre optic splicing.
Licensing: Valid G driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with both loose tube and ribbon fibre applications, as well as OTDR testing and troubleshooting.
Physical Capability: Comfortable working at heights (bucket truck and ladder), in underground settings, and in various weather conditions.
Language: Fluent in English (both verbal and written) for effective communication and accurate reporting.
Flexibility: Willing and able to travel and work out of town as project demands require, including the possibility of weekend and evening work.
