Part-Time Outreach & Program Assistant
25–30 hours per week
Dedicated Advocacy Resource Support (DARS) is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and organized individual to join our team as a Part-Time Outreach & Program Assistant.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, food insecurity, and other life challenges throughout Durham Region.
About the Role
Working alongside our Head of Outreach and Programs, you will assist in delivering a variety of community-based services, including:
● Food insecurity and meal programs
● Community outreach and client engagement
● Shower and hygiene programs
● Winter Warming Centre operations
● Resource navigation and referrals
● Program set-up, organization, and participant support
● Data entry and program documentation
● Community events and special initiatives
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
● Has a genuine passion for helping people and strengthening communities.
● Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Is dependable, compassionate, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
● Can remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
● Is comfortable working with vulnerable populations using a respectful, trauma-informed approach.
● Has strong organizational and time-management skills.
● Possesses basic computer skills (Microsoft Office; experience with HIFIS is an asset).
● Holds a valid Ontario driver’s licence with reliable transportation (preferred).
● Is willing to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends during special programs.
