Offering an 18-hole championship-layout public golf course, driving range, on-site restaurant, and a premier all-inclusive outdoor wedding venue, Redwoods is a staple in the Langley community. From hosting company holiday parties and large charity shotgun tournaments to spectacular weddings, and public golf, we are proud to consistently deliver memorable experiences to our community.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Course Superintendent, the Student Grounds Person is responsible for maintaining the beauty and playability of the golf course and surrounding property. This entry-level position plays a role in maintaining the course and providing an exceptional golf experience for all guests.
This is a seasonal position that typically runs from June to September, based on weather. Early morning availability is required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate various groundskeeping equipment and power tools including: string trimmers, backpack blowers, hand tools, push mowers, walk-behind mowers, and entry level ride-on mowers
- Assist in the daily course set up by filling divots on tees and fairways
- Participate in supervised course renovation projects
- Assist with weed removal and management
- Assist with bunker maintenance
- Perform other duties associated with daily golf course and property maintenance such as brush and debris removal
- Maintain a clean working environment
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities:
- Team-oriented
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Physically able to carry out the functions of the position
- Knowledge of golf and/or the ability to play the game is an asset
Qualifications:
- Valid Basic First Aid, with CPR, and AED Certification, or equivalent will be required to be maintained during employment
- Willingness to complete a Police Information Check is required
- Valid BC driver’s license is required
- Experience on a golf course maintenance team or in a related field is an asset
