Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Electrical Foreman/Estimator
with a strong field background to join our team. In this hybrid role, you will transition your hands-on electrical expertise into an office- and site-based position. You will own the pre-construction phase: conducting site visits, generating accurate residential and light commercial estimates, procuring materials, and coordinating logistics to ensure seamless project execution. This position does not require tools on-site.
Key Responsibilities1. Estimating & Site Assessment (approx. 50%)
- Site Inspections: Conduct physical walkthroughs of residential homes and small commercial properties to assess job scope, structural layout, and potential installation obstacles.
- Material Takeoffs: Analyze blueprints, architectural drawings, or site notes to create precise material and labour takeoffs.
- Bid Generation: Formulate competitive, accurate, and profitable cost estimates using digital estimating tools or spreadsheets.
- Client Relations: Act as a technical advisor to homeowners and small business clients, explaining scopes of work and presenting final proposals.
2. Project Coordination & Material Procurement (approx. 50%)
- Supply Chain Management: Source materials, negotiate pricing with local electrical wholesalers, issue Purchase Orders (POs), and manage inventory.
- Just-in-Time Logistics: Coordinate material deliveries to align perfectly with project start dates, minimizing field downtime.
- Resource Scheduling: Assist in mapping out crew schedules and assigning field technicians to specific jobs based on project scope.
- Change Management: Evaluate, price, and document project change orders as field conditions or client needs evolve.
Qualifications & SkillsRequired:
- Trade Credential: Journeyman Electrician certification (Red Seal) with significant hands-on field experience.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep, up-to-date understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) as it applies to residential and light commercial installations.
- Estimating Experience: Proven track record of estimating residential renovations, custom homes, service upgrades, and small commercial fit-ups.
- Logistical Competence: Strong organizational skills with experience managing vendor relations, purchase orders, and project material timelines.
- Mobility: Valid NS Driver’s License with a clean abstract for frequent travel to local site visits.
Preferred:
- Proficiency with digital takeoff and estimating software or modern cloud-based job management platforms
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for cost-tracking sheet maintenance.

Pay: $60,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
