Field Testing Assistant (Summer Student)

Position Overview
ECBVerdyol is seeking a motivated and hands-on Field Testing Assistant to support our research and production teams during the summer season. This role is ideal for a student interested in environmental science, agriculture, civil engineering, or applied research.
The position is split evenly between field research (50%) and production operations (50%), offering a unique opportunity to gain both experimental and manufacturing experience in the erosion control industry.
Note: Travel to and from the Blumenort facility and field sites is the responsibility of the applicant.
Key Responsibilities
Field Testing & Research (50%)
- Assist with revegetation trials using Solmax Pyramat 75
- Conduct both benchtop experiments and field trials
- Prepare trial setups, including materials, plots, and documentation
- Collect, record, and organize experimental data (germination, growth, coverage, etc.)
- Assist in developing bench-scale and field trial reports
- Support hydroseeding trials, including operation assistance and material preparation
- Participate in tackifier testing experiments, including mixing, application, and evaluation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of testing areas and equipment
Production & Manufacturing (50%)
- Learn and assist with production processes at the Blumenort facility
- Rotate through and understand each production station
- Support fiber blending and mulch production
- Assist with equipment operation under supervision
- Participate in quality control checks and material handling
- Follow all safety procedures and manufacturing protocols
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in (or recently completed) a program in:
- Environmental Science
- Agriculture
- Civil Engineering
- Biology or related field
- Strong interest in hands-on fieldwork and applied research
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Mechanically inclined or interested in industrial processes
- Strong attention to detail and data recording accuracy
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team
- Valid driver’s license (preferred but not required)

- Comfortable with physical work (lifting, walking sites, etc.)
- Interest in sustainability, erosion control, or land reclamation is an asset
