Dozer Operator

DeFord Contracting Inc. is looking for an experienced Dozer Operator for Civil Construction city projects in and around the Greater Edmonton Area. DeFord is a leading contractor in Edmonton, Alberta, specializing in municipal road projects, subdivision land development, parking lots, and other key infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently operate dozes to perform civil construction and earthworks activities.
- Operate dozer controls to regulate blade height and angle for grading, leveling, sloping, and material movement.
- Perform rough and finish grading to achieve required elevations, slopes, and grades.
- Perform stripping, site preparation, and other earthworks activities as required.
- Complete daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance or mechanical issues.
- Work collaboratively with Foremen, Superintendents, Project Managers, and other equipment operators to complete projects efficiently.
- Perform work safely and in accordance with DeFord Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high standard of quality and productivity.
- Complete required daily documentation and equipment logs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Dozer Operator, preferably in civil construction or earthworks.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation
- Demonstrated experience with finish work, including sloping, leveling, and precision grading.
- Experience with stripping and site preparation; considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret basic construction plans, grades, and elevations is considered an asset.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.
