DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety Training, the Supervisor, Mine Operations Training is responsible for the training, assessments, progression and record keeping for mining equipment operators to improve the overall operational skill level and career progression in the Mining department.
The successful candidate must have hands on experience in best practice safety, mining, and maintenance methodologies to manage the activities involved in the assessment, design, delivery, implementation and evaluation of training and development for the Magino Mine.

Argonaut Gold is a Canadian-based gold producer with a portfolio of operations in North America. Focused on becoming a low-cost, mid-tier gold producer, the Company’s newest gold mine, Magino is expected to become Argonaut’s largest and lowest cost mine. Commercial production at Magino has been achieved, which is the first step in transforming the Company as it enters a pivotal growth stage. The Company also has three additional operating mines including the Florida Canyon mine in Nevada, USA, where it is pursuing potential for redevelopment and additional growth, La Colorada mine in Sonora, Mexico and San Agustin mine in Durango, Mexico.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct training and development for Mine Mobile Equipment Operators while ensuring all persons working on site are duly competent, appointed, and skilled to complete their job function.

Assist with the development of training programs in the Mining department

Provide guidance to the leadership team on developing the team of operators at all levels.

Assist with the development of SOPs and procedures to ensure clarity and transparency in progression of Operators.

Assist to maintain the training and technical progression matrix for the Mining department.

Ensure all employees working on site are duly authorized, appointed, and skilled.

Ensure assigned equipment is operated and maintained to original equipment manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.

Ensure employee training and legislative requirements are met.

Identify training needs or gaps to develop and revise training and assessment resources.

Complete reports, coaching logs, and training sign-off while ensuring proper record keeping.

Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives of the department and operator skill level.

Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety through work habits, one on one discussions, and workplace behaviours.

Be highly skilled in the area of expertise he/she will be instructing.

Be certified and accredited in the Surface Miner Common Core Program and in any specific module he/she will be instructing.

Prepare lesson plans and outline course materials to be used.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certified and accredited in the Surface Miner Common Core Program and in any specific module he/she will be instructing
-
Minimum 10 years’ experience operating heavy equipment in a heavy industrial/mining environment (preferably open pit mining) with minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.

Able to assess the following machinery/equipment: Cat end dumps, grader, drills, dozers, and shovels, and other mine ancillary equipment.

Proven competency in training and assessment methods and techniques to Canadian Mining standards.

Good computing skills using MS Office.

Mine rescue experience is preferred.

Superb interpersonal skills with a supportive, positive approach to training.

Self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude, ability to give direction.

Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.

Must have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and conflict resolution skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.

The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 14 days on/ 14 days off.

Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.

Able to work in close quarters with a dedicated team of professionals.

As a Management position you will be required to manage your time on site effectively in line with the requirements of the job.

Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts.
