Demolition Technician – Stucco, Siding, and Decks

Position Summary
We are looking for a reliable Demolition Technician to join our crew for a long-term project in Coquitlam. This position focuses on the safe removal of stucco, siding, decks, exterior finishes, and related building materials. The ideal candidate is hardworking, safety-minded, comfortable using tools, and able to work as part of a team on active construction and renovation sites.
Key Responsibilities
Remove stucco, siding, deck boards, railings, waterproofing membranes, trim, fasteners, sheathing, and other exterior materials as directed.
Use hand tools, power tools, pry bars, saws, grinders, ladders, scaffolding, and other jobsite equipment safely.
Set up work areas with proper protection, barriers, dust control, debris containment, and safe access.
Sort, carry, load, and dispose of demolition debris while keeping the site clean and organized.
Identify and report hidden damage, rot, moisture issues, unsafe conditions, or suspected hazardous materials.
Work carefully around windows, doors, flashing, framing, decks, and other surfaces that must remain in place.
Assist carpenters, installers, water proofers, and other trades with demolition and site preparation as needed.
Follow company procedures, site-specific safety requirements, and directions from supervisors or lead hands.
Load, unload, and organize tools, equipment, materials, and waste bins as required.
Qualifications and Skills
Previous experience in demolition, construction labour, restoration, stucco, siding, decks, carpentry, or building envelope work is preferred.
Ability to safely use common construction and demolition tools.
Physically able to lift, carry, pull, bend, climb, kneel, and work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
Comfortable working at heights when proper fall protection, ladders, scaffolding, or platforms are provided.
Strong focus on safety, site cleanliness, and protecting existing structures.
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
Able to work independently and as part of a crew.
Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are considered assets.
Fall protection, WHMIS, first aid, asbestos awareness, or other construction safety training are considered assets.
Safety Expectations
Wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirator or dust mask, high-visibility clothing, and fall protection where required.
Follow safe work procedures for demolition, debris handling, dust control, ladders, scaffolds, power tools, and working at heights.
Stop work and notify a supervisor if hazardous materials, structural concerns, electrical hazards, unsafe access, or other risks are suspected.
Stay aware of nearby workers, residents, pedestrians, traffic, utilities, and surrounding property.
Participate in toolbox talks, site orientations, and safety meetings as required.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily outdoors on active construction, renovation, restoration, and demolition sites.
The role involves repetitive lifting, carrying, pulling, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
Work may involve dust, noise, vibration, sharp materials, uneven surfaces, and changing weather conditions.
Some projects may require early starts, overtime, or travel between jobsites.
Compensation
$26 – $32 per hour, based on experience.
Health and dental benefits may be available, along with other incentives based on company policy.
Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hour
