Alderwood cares for 70 residents across Nursing Home and Residential Care. Our home is divided into six distinct home areas; five Nursing Home (11-12 residents each) and one Residential Care (11 residents). All residents have private rooms and bathrooms to ensure their comfort and dignity, and Alderwood Home Areas are designed to create a genuine sense of belonging for our residents.

Overview:
Join our dynamic team as a Maintenance Worker and become a vital part of ensuring our facility operates smoothly, safely, and efficiently. In this energetic role, you will take charge of routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections across our property. Your proactive approach will help maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning environment that supports our team’s productivity and well-being of our residents. Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance, maintain grounds including mowing lawns, trimming shrubs, shovel snow. Perform routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems to identify maintenance needs and ensure safety standards are met.
Perform repairs and maintenance to exterior and interior of building including minor repairs to equipment, routine & preventative maintenance to residents rooms and common areas.
Unload incoming supplies from trucks and store supplies in designated areas.
Assist with setup and breakdown for events or special projects as needed.
Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used.
Respond swiftly to urgent maintenance requests to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks and ensure all safety protocols are followed.
Requirements:
Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 drivers license
Ability to work flexible hours/shifts
Proven experience in general maintenance or repair work in a commercial or residential setting
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently and accurately
Knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and safety procedures
Good knowledge of building systems
Strong physical stamina to perform manual tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces, painting, garbage handling
Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and report issues clearly
Certification or training in relevant trades (e.g., electrician’s license, HVAC certification) is a plus but not mandatory

Pay: $22.09-$22.47 per hour
