Position Summary
The Lead Hand – Dovetail Drawer Box Maker is responsible for overseeing the production of high-quality dovetail drawer boxes while actively participating in manufacturing. This role combines hands-on woodworking expertise with CNC operation and programming, along with team leadership, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities of this position include the following:
· Production, Manufacturing & CNC
o Set up, operate, and maintain woodworking machinery including CNC routers, dovetail machines, table saws, and sanders.
o Program, load, and optimize CNC jobs for drawer box components.
o Troubleshoot CNC issues, adjust tooling, and ensure machine accuracy.
o Manufacture drawer box components including sides, fronts, backs, and bottoms to precise specifications.
o Assemble dovetail drawer boxes ensuring tight joints and square construction.
o Read and interpret shop drawings, cut lists, and CNC files.
o Ensure proper material selection and efficient usage.
· Leadership & Team Support
o Lead daily production within the drawer box department.
o Assign tasks and ensure team understanding of CNC and manual processes.
o Train staff on CNC operation, safety, and woodworking techniques.
o Monitor workflow to meet production targets and deadlines.
o Provide coaching and support to team members.
· Quality Control
o Ensure all products meet quality standards and specifications.
o Inspect CNC output for accuracy and consistency.
o Resolve issues quickly to minimize waste and rework.
· Safety & Maintenance
o Enforce safety procedures and proper PPE usage.
o Perform routine maintenance on CNC and shop equipment.
o Coordinate repairs and report equipment issues.
o Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
· Inventory & Materials Management
o Monitor stock levels and material usage.
o Reduce waste through efficient CNC programming and cutting.
o Assist with inventory tracking and counts.
· Administrative & Coordination
o Work with production management and other departments.
o Track production output and report issues.
o Improve processes and workflow efficiency.
A qualified candidate would have the following qualifications and skills
· Strong experience with dovetail drawer box construction.
· Hands-on CNC operation and programming experience required.
· Leadership experience preferred.
· Technical Skills
o CNC programming and machine operation.
o Blueprint and shop drawing reading.
o Knowledge of woodworking tools and materials.

The renumeration for this position is $36.92/hour, based on a 30-hour work week.
Pay: $39.00-$39.92 per hour
