ABOUT THE ROLE
Maple Hill School is looking for motivated and skilled individuals to join our team as High School Tutors in Richmond. We are dedicated to providing high-quality educational support to high school students across a wide range of subjects, including English, Social Studies, Math, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions for high school students across multiple subjects including English, Math, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), and Social Studies.
- Develop personalized lesson plans and study strategies tailored to each student strengths, weaknesses, and learning style.
- Build student confidence and reduce exam anxiety through patient, supportive, and encouraging instruction.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting tutoring methods as necessary to ensure consistent improvement.
- Communicate proactively and professionally with students, parents, and team members regarding progress and any concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: Currently enrolled in or graduated from a university program in a relevant field.
- Required: Strong knowledge of the BC high school curriculum and proficiency in at least two tutoring subjects.
- Required: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Required: Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Preferred: 1–2 years of tutoring or teaching experience with demonstrated ability to improve student grades.
- Preferred: Experience working with students in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Patience, reliability, and the ability to motivate and engage students of varying skill levels.
SCHEDULE
Tutoring sessions are held after school hours, on weekends, and during school break periods. Scheduling is flexible and arranged based on student availability. Estimated commitment is 2 to 20 hours per week.
