Ocean Ecoventures Whale Watching – Parksville / French Creek, BC
Ocean Ecoventures Whale Watching is seeking experienced and passionate individuals to join our team as Whale Watching Captain/Naturalists for the 2026 season at our Parksville / French Creek location.

This role involves captaining our 12-passenger vessels on 3.5–4 hour whale and wildlife tours from April through October, while providing engaging interpretation about whales, marine wildlife, and the local ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Captain whale watching and wildlife tours safely and professionally
- Educate and engage guests about whales and local marine wildlife
- Maintain passenger safety and follow all operational protocols
- Perform routine vessel and safety equipment checks
- Work closely with fellow skippers and staff to deliver an exceptional guest experience
What We’re Looking For
- Passion for marine wildlife and the ocean
- Strong communication and guest engagement skills
- Confidence operating Zodiacs in varying sea conditions
- Team-oriented attitude and flexible availability, including weekends
Required Certifications
- SVOP (Small Vessel Operator Proficiency)
- ROC-M (Marine Radio)
- Marine First Aid
- MED A2/3 or DVS / SDVBS certification
Preferred Experience
- Experience operating commercial vessels or guiding in eco-tourism or marine tourism
- Interest or background in marine biology or environmental studies is an asset
