Position Summary
The Hydraulic Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, testing, and installation of hydraulic systems and components used on oilfield service equipment. This position ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while minimizing downtime. The Hydraulic Mechanic works on a wide variety of hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, hoses, power units, and control systems.
Candidates should demonstrate strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical failures using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic equipment.
- Repair and rebuild hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, manifolds, and power units.
- Install, fabricate, and replace hydraulic hoses, fittings, tubing, and related components.
- Perform preventative maintenance on hydraulic systems and mobile equipment.
- Pressure test hydraulic components and verify proper system operation.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic control circuits and proportional hydraulic systems.
- Repair hydraulic systems on heavy trucks, trailers, pressure pumping equipment, coil tubing units, nitrogen units, cranes, winches, and other oilfield equipment.
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, blueprints, and service manuals.
- Perform mechanical repairs including bearings, seals, gearboxes, PTOs, and drive systems when required.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and complete work orders accurately.
- Ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist field personnel with hydraulic troubleshooting and emergency repairs as required.
- Recommend improvements to equipment reliability and maintenance practices.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial or oilfield hydraulic systems.
- Experience with coil tubing, nitrogen pumping, fluid pumping, wireline, or related pressure pumping equipment considered an asset.
Requirements
- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician, Agricultural Equipment Technician, Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), or equivalent mechanical trade; equivalent hydraulic experience will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic principles and fluid power systems.
- Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
