Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
Working within Waypoint’s Strategic Communications and Public Affairs team, the successful candidate will support a variety of communications, marketing, and community engagement activities. This role is ideal for a student interested in healthcare communications and learning how strategic storytelling, community engagement, and digital communications can support mental health, addictions care, and health system improvement.
Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church St. in Penetanguishene, ON.
Please note: As this opportunity is linked to the Canada Summer Jobs program, the eligibility requirement for these positions is between the ages of 15-30.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Support marketing and communications campaigns that promote Waypoint’s programs, services, events, and initiatives.

Assist with the development of content for social media, newsletters, presentations, and promotional materials.

Assist with social media monitoring and audience engagement activities.
-
Support the promotion of community events, fundraising activities, and awareness campaigns.
-
Support the organization and execution of hospital events.
-
Conduct research on communications trends, audience interests, and best practices.

Assist with media monitoring and the collection of communications metrics.

Support internal communications activities and staff engagement initiatives.

Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for communications and marketing projects.

Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of events, including fundraising events, community outreach activities, and donor recognition events.

Assist team members in adapting event plans in response to changing circumstances, timelines, or priorities.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Registration in a high school, college, or university program required.

Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Demonstrated teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills to manage tasks, timelines, and event details.

Demonstrated professionalism and the ability to interact positively with others.

Proven ability to adapt readily to change.
