Stationary Engineer Job Description

12 hour rotating shifts. 4 on / 4 off rotating shifts. Days / Nights

Brief Description:
The primary function or purpose of this position is to control process equipment in an industrial manufacturing process. System includes a Bark burning Industrial furnace, 125 HP Clever Brookes Boiler, MEC Rotary Drum Dryer, Grinding and Pelletizing Equipment.
Key Accountabilities:
Monitor production line equipment.
Operate a GTS wet fuel biomass furnace. 125 HP Clever Brookes boiler.
Dry wood products in a MEC rotary drum dryer.
Monitor conveyors, hammer mills, pelleting and cooling equipment.
Perform boiler tests, pellet quality tests, moisture sample tests, particle size tests, other additional tests that may be required to meet production targets and standards.
Regulate material levels in dry fiber bins.
Perform maintenance related activities to furnace, boiler, and water systems as required or dictated by leadhand or operations manager.
Follow any and all safety and lockout procedures for the equipment used. Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the job and maintain it in good working condition.
Proactive communication with other operators, and key Pellet Plant personnel.
Complete visual inspections of equipment to ensure good working condition.
Monitor boiler feed water and arrange chemical requirements with suppliers.
Strive to meet production requirements.
Ensure pellet quality meets or exceeds contract targets.
Experience:
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent professional experience.
A current Nova Scotia Class 4 Stationary Engineer Certificate
Knowledge of operating mill equipment and systems is an asset.
Knowledge of Mill production methods.
Knowledge and ability to operate computer operating systems and Microsoft Office.
Skill Set:
Strong sense of urgency.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects without losing focus on the details.
Ability to work independently on a timely basis.
Excellent communication skills (able to communicate at all levels).
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be exposed to seasonal weather conditions; moving mechanical equipment; high and precarious work locations; dust or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment in some areas can require the use of hearing protection.
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
