About the Role:
The Account Manager plays a key role in shaping and executing our sales strategy to surpass sales objectives and drive business growth in Kingston, Ontario. This role is in regular contact with current and prospective customers and conducts all sales activities from lead generation to project completion and beyond, using technical selling skills and focused product knowledge to deliver superior solutions to customers. The Account Manager is responsible for all aspects of account management, sales, and promotion to the residential, commercial, and industrial construction and building supply industry.
What you’ll do:
- Develop relationships with key influencers at local Architect, interior designers, Engineer & Lighting Design firms.
- Regular site visits to our Customers, Dealers and Partners to build and promote strong relationships by understanding their needs, providing real, practical solutions and delivering exceptional support.
- Promote sales to existing clients.
- Identify and solicit potential clients.
- Design assistance in developing control intent, fixture schedules, specifications, and drawings.
- Coordinate the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources, to meet account performance objectives and customers’ expectations.
- Be responsible for generating and maintaining sales reports and customer account plans, maintaining a 12-24-month view of the sales pipeline with appropriate actions to maximize long-term revenue growth, while simultaneously accomplishing quarterly objectives
- Actively manage an account list of approximately 10-15 significant firms. Provide support as needed to a secondary account list.
- Create project level opportunities for the manufacturers we represent through regular sales calls, presentations, client travel, industry events, etc.
- Create and manage a yearly business plan for key accounts. Report and track to plan.
- Provide input into product design where products must be tailored to suit clients’ needs.
- Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentations to illustrate benefits from use of goods or services.
- Utilize the company CRM for all aspects of account management: lead generation and contact accounts set up following appropriate procedures as developed to complete order cycle.
- Consult with clients after sale to resolve problems and provide ongoing support.
- Troubleshoot technical problems related to equipment.
- Develop sales presentations, proposals, or other materials to illustrate benefits from the use of our products or services.
- May train customers’ staff in the operation and maintenance of equipment
- Assess market conditions and competitors' activities and develop an awareness of emerging markets and trends
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary Education or equivalent work experience
- Basic knowledge of control systems.
- Ability to read and understand architectural and electrical drawings.
- 2-4 years in a Customer Success role (preferably B2B), with a proven ability to deliver and grow customer value with lighting and controls solutions.
- Experience in customer-facing roles including support, project, and account management in a technical domain
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Products & Solutions, specifically Outlook, Teams & Power Point.
- Excellent organizational practices.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated commitment to high performance, and motivated to deliver results.
- Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to use an organized and logical approach to find solutions for complex problems.
- Must be able to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
- A valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.
