Lead Remediation Technician
A Lead Remediation Technician plays a critical role in supervising and executing the safe removal and containment of mold, asbestos, and water-related damage from residential, commercial, and institutional properties. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to coordinate teams on-site while ensuring safety compliance, drying standards, and quality control are consistently met. Candidates with Water Restoration Technician (WRT) experience will be strongly prioritized.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of technicians across mold remediation, asbestos abatement, and water damage restoration projects
- Act as the on-site point of contact for project managers, clients, and subcontractors
- Ensure all technicians follow safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA, provincial regulations)
- Oversee water damage mitigation processes including extraction, structural drying, moisture monitoring, and equipment setup (air movers, dehumidifiers, extractors, potentially air scrubbers/negative air machines)
- Provide on-site training, mentorship, and support to new or junior technicians
- Monitor and document drying progress using moisture meters, hygrometers, and thermal imaging where applicable
- Oversee proper use, maintenance, and decontamination of remediation and restoration equipment
- Assist in documenting job progress, including moisture logs, photos, and daily reports
- Perform hands-on work as needed, including containment setup, HEPA vacuuming, demolition, water extraction, and material disposal
- Conduct post-remediation inspections and assist with clearance testing coordination
- Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is used appropriately and maintained
- Maintain excellent communication with clients and promote a professional, respectful work environment
- Other tasks as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum 2–3 years experience in mold or asbestos remediation (water restoration experience is a strong asset)
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage crews of 2–5+ technicians
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving abstract
- Strong understanding of:
- Mold identification and containment procedures
- Asbestos abatement protocols
- Water damage mitigation principles (drying, moisture control, equipment usage)
- Physically able to perform demanding tasks, work at heights, and lift heavy equipment
- Comfortable working in varying conditions, including extreme temperatures and confined spaces
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to complete job site documentation
- Available for on-call and emergency response situations; flexible schedule required
- Current certifications in mold remediation and asbestos abatement preferred
Highly Preferred (Priority Consideration):
- Water Restoration Technician (WRT) certification and hands-on drying experience
- Strong understanding of structural drying, moisture mapping, and use of drying equipment
- IICRC certifications (e.g., WRT, AMRT)
- Competency using mobile devices, apps, and documentation tools (photos, reports, etc.)

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
