Overview
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 3 hours per day (15 hours per week)
Position Summary: We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and reliable Behavioral Aide to provide one-on-one support for our autistic child in the home. The successful candidate will help implement behavioral and developmental strategies, encourage positive social interactions, support communication, and assist with daily routines while fostering a safe, structured, and positive environment.
The Behavioural Aide must be comfortable working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with the Occupational Therapist (OT), Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), and Behavioural Therapist to ensure the consistent implementation of goals, strategies, and interventions across all settings. The Behavioural Aide is also responsible for planning engaging daily activities that support the child's developmental and behavioural goals and must come prepared with age-appropriate toys, games, sensory materials, and craft supplies for each session
Duties
- Provide one-on-one support to the child with behavioral challenges, implementing individualized care plans.
- Support therapeutic interventions by reinforcing behavioral strategies and techniques to reach goals set by thw team of therapists.
- Collect and record data related to behavior, progress, and responses to interventions for ongoing assessment.
- Monitor children’s safety at all times, ensuring a secure environment during activities and transitions.
- Collaborate with therapists, and healthcare professionals to coordinate care and share relevant information.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in educational, healthcare, or behavioral support settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of special education practices and behavioral intervention strategies.
- Strong understanding of patient care principles relevant to children with special needs.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills and patience when working with children and families.
- Relevant certifications or training in behavior management or pediatric care are a plus.
This position is essential for supporting children's growth and well-being through dedicated care and professional collaboration.
Pay: $28.97 per hour
