Comox Valley Showcase projects
- Lazo Greenway Multi-Use Pathway – ISL Project: ISL provided route option analysis, project planning, consultation support, cost estimateing and detailed design servicews for a 2.6 kilometre All Ages and Abilitieies (AAA) transportation corridor through Comox.
- 6th Street Cable-Stayed Bridge – ISL: ISL provided erection engineering services as a subconsultant to Surespan Group of Companies Ltd., developing the methodology that guided the bridge from its first lifted components to its completed form
Nanaimo Showcase projects
- Jack Bagley Park Redevelopment – ISL: ISL served as Prime Consultant, providing public engagement, park planning, landscape architecture, structural engineering, detailed design, and construction administration services on the transformation of a 1.5-hectare community park in Nanoose Bay.
- Terminal Avenue Improvements / Downtown Transit Exchange: ISL is the prime consultant for the Terminal Avenue Upgrade Projects and Downtown Nanaimo Transit Exchange, which include the Highway 1 Corridor Study (Terminal Avenue from Commercial Street to Stewart Avenue) and the $15.8M Transit Exchange Facilities.
Victoria Showcase projects
- City of Victoria AAA Bike Lanes: ISL led AAA cycling facilities which have included bikeways and lanes from 2019 to present day.. When combined, projects include over 20 km of separated uni-directional and bi-directional bike lanes, neighbourhood bikeways, and multi-use pathways.
- Charters Road Streetscape – ISL: ISL provided conceptual, detailed design and construction support for the upgrade of Chaters Road in Sooke which included two vehicle travel lanes, buffered on-road bike lanes, curb and gutter, boulevards, sidewalks and a crossing of Throup Stream.
About the Role
In this role, you will be able to see projects from inception to delivery, which also means that travel on the Island will be required (approximately less than 10% per week). You would be responsible for:
- Collaborating with internal and external project team members and stakeholders.
- Providing design and construction services for a variety of project types across Vancouver Island.
- Coordinating with clients, contractors, and third-party stakeholders to facilitate project requirements.
- Preparing engineering base plans, designs, drawings, and cost estimates for municipal engineering projects (roadworks, water and wastewater, and storm water management).
- Developing concepts and designs using Civil 3D, CAD, and other computer-aided drafting programs.
- Producing design calculations and analysis for storm water and sanitary sewer collection systems.
- Assisting in preparing engineering and construction tender documents and contracts.
- Inspecting construction of municipal engineering projects.
- Providing input into project budgeting and scheduling.

Your cover letter must demonstrate:
- Your interest in municipal and/or transportation engineering.
Your resume should show us:
- A Diploma in Civil Engineering or Engineering Design Technology; OR a Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Registration (or eligibility for registration) as an AScT with ASTTBC or as an EIT with EGBC.
- 3+ years of experience in municipal or transportation engineering related fields.
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D / AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of the design process.
Bonus points for:
- Transportation and/or municipal engineering design experience.
- Experience with MMCD.
- Experience in large and small-scale projects.
