The Position
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will work closely with the Manager of Structural Engineering and broader leadership team to deliver projects with a high standard of technical excellence and engineering integrity.
You will take a lead role in planning, executing, and overseeing structural work, ensuring project objectives are achieved in alignment with scope, schedule, and budget. In addition to technical delivery, you will contribute to project strategy, client engagement, and team development, driving consistent, high-quality outcomes.
This role includes both hands-on engineering and leadership responsibilities, with the opportunity to influence project delivery approaches and contribute to the continued growth of the office.
Projects range from modular housing and commercial buildings to infrastructure and remote community developments.
Responsibilities
· Lead structural assessments, feasibility studies, and design development for a range of building and infrastructure projects
· Prepare and review structural designs, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
· Conduct site reviews and field inspections to ensure alignment with design intent and applicable standards
· Manage projects through all phases, maintaining accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and quality
· Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates for new and existing clients
· Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering staff, supporting team development and maintaining high standards
· Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and project leadership
· Support the growth of the office through project leadership and client engagement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta with APEGA, or Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in any Canadian province.
- 8+ years of relevant structural engineering experience, with demonstrated responsibility for design and delivery of building projects
- Experience with structural analysis, design, and preparation of construction documents in a consulting environment
- Proficiency in structural analysis software and design tools; strong working knowledge of both AutoCAD and Revit required
- Experience with the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), particularly Part 4 and Part 9, and relevant CSA standards for structural design (e.g., CSA S16, CSA A23.3, CSA S136 where applicable)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and project teams
- Eligibility for registration in multiple Canadian provinces is considered an asset
- Experience sealing drawings and taking professional responsibility for designs is considered an asset
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
· Strong technical foundation in structural engineering principles and building systems
· Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
· Experience working across multiple structural systems (steel, concrete, wood, masonry, light gauge steel, modular/panelized construction)
· Strong coordination skills across disciplines and project teams
· Solid understanding of Canadian codes, safety requirements, and regulatory frameworks
· Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
· Sound judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capability
· Demonstrated leadership and ability to guide and support a project team
Pay: $130,000.00-$170,000.00 per year
