Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
What you’ll do:
- Plan, schedule, and execute hardware and firmware patching activities for enterprise endpoints, including BIOS, driver, and device firmware updates.
- Ensure endpoint devices meet security patch compliance and vulnerability remediation requirements, aligning with enterprise security and lifecycle standards.
- Leverage endpoint management tools (e.g., Intune, SCCM or equivalent) to deploy, monitor, and report on patch compliance, success rates, and remediation activities.
- Validate patch deployments, proactively identify risks, and troubleshoot and remediate failed or degraded hardware patching outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation, baselines, and standards for hardware patching, endpoint configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to coordinate patching activities and ensure alignment with enterprise change and compliance requirements.
- Work with internal and external teams to improve service quality by identifying trends, performing root cause analysis, and implementing sustainable solutions that enhance system stability and user experience.
- Perform hands-on configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of endpoint technologies, including hardware components, operating systems, and enterprise applications.
- Support lifecycle activities such as device provisioning, upgrades, replacements, and decommissioning in accordance with asset management standards.
- Contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, and quality management documentation.
- Monitor capacity, utilization, and performance of supported technologies and take proactive action to maintain operational availability and reliability.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to peers and end users to support effective and consistent use of enterprise technologies.
What you’ll bring:
- 3+ years of experience in IT, preferably in endpoint management, desktop engineering, or digital workplace environments.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in computer science, computer systems engineering, or related discipline. Relevant certifications are an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of hardware lifecycle management, including firmware/BIOS patching, driver management, and endpoint compliance standards.
- Proven experience managing Windows endpoint environments and Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with endpoint management platforms (e.g., Intune, SCCM), including patch deployment and device configuration.
- Experience supporting enterprise hardware, software, and cloud-based (SaaS/PaaS) technologies.
- Understanding of release, update, and change management practices within enterprise IT environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
- Strong analytical thinking, with the ability to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Sound judgment and decision-making aligned with enterprise policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
