NASC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Coach to provide professional leadership to our coaching staff and athletes. The Head Coach is responsible for the overall technical direction of the club, including program development, athlete assessment, and mentoring the coaching team. This role is pivotal in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and competitive environment aligned with the standards of Ontario Artistic Swimming (OAS) and Canada Artistic Swimming (CAS).
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Lead the coaching team in designing and delivering training programs for all streams (Provincial, Regional, Recreational, and AWD).
- Athlete Development & Selection: Lead the yearly assessment and placement of athletes using the CAS Gold Medal Profile (GMP). Make final decisions on team compositions and extra routine (solo/duet) selections.
- Mentorship: Supervise and mentor registered and "in-training" coaches, ensuring they adhere to CAS certification standards.
- Safety & Compliance: Oversee the implementation of the Return to Sport Injury Protocol and concussion policies. Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in alignment with the CAS Safe and Welcoming Sport Policy Suite.
- Communication: Serve as the primary professional point of contact for parents regarding technical concerns and disciplinary matters following the "24-hour rule".
- Disciplinary Oversight: Manage minor and major infractions within the club, working with the Board and Case Managers when necessary to maintain the Club’s Code of Conduct.
- Administrative Support: Assist the Board in determining program costs, coaching requirements, and overall club sustainability. Reviewing and approving coach timesheets
- Coach Evaluations: Writing and providing formal and informal evaluations about team and assistant coaches
- Managing Pool Calendar: Liaise with City of Ottawa for pool availability and booking
- Social Media: Managing and posting club events and competitions on Instagram
Qualifications and Requirements
- Certification: Must be at least Competition Development Certified or NCCP Level 3 Certified, National Lifeguard Certification, Standard First Aid
- Registration: Must be a registered member in good standing with CAS and OAS.
- Screening: Must provide a valid Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and a Sterling Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC).
- Mandatory Training:
- NCCP Safe Sport Training (recertification required every 3 years).
- NCCP Make Ethical Decisions Workshop and Online Evaluation.
- NCCP Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity in Aquatic Sports.
- Respect in Sport Activity Leader Training.
- Health: Compliance with NASC's athlete safety protocols, including concussion management and return to play plans
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: Competitive rate as defined by the NASC Coach Compensation scale.

Pay: $54,000.00 per year
