D&L Landscaping and Concrete is looking for an experienced and dependable Operations Supervisor to help oversee our crews and day-to-day field operations throughout both the summer and winter seasons.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can organize employees, coordinate work across multiple locations, maintain productivity, and ensure that company safety procedures are followed. D&L is working toward COR certification, so the successful candidate must be prepared to take an active role in employee supervision, training, documentation, and workplace safety.
Our summer work may include landscaping, material deliveries, asphalt and concrete repairs, sweeping, line painting, property maintenance, and related projects. Winter work includes commercial snow plowing, shovelling, hauling, sidewalk maintenance, and de-icing operations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate crews during summer and winter operations
- Assign daily tasks and ensure employees understand the work required
- Monitor employee attendance, performance, productivity, and conduct
- Visit job sites to check progress, workmanship, and safety compliance
- Coordinate employees, trucks, equipment, materials, and job-site requirements
- Communicate daily priorities and changes to management and field staff
- Ensure work is completed efficiently and according to company standards
- Train employees on job tasks, equipment use, and safe work procedures
- Conduct and document toolbox talks, site orientations, inspections, and safety meetings
- Enforce company safety policies and COR-related procedures
- Identify hazards and take corrective action when unsafe conditions are observed
- Ensure required forms, checklists, photos, time records, and job documentation are completed
- Inspect equipment and report maintenance or repair concerns
- Respond to changing weather, scheduling, staffing, and customer requirements
- Assist directly with field work when needed
- Support winter operations during early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight snow events
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory, foreman, or crew-lead experience
- Experience in landscaping, construction, trucking, property maintenance, or snow removal is preferred
- Strong understanding of workplace safety and safe equipment operation
- Experience with COR, safety programs, toolbox talks, hazard assessments, or incident reporting is considered a strong asset
- Ability to lead employees firmly, fairly, and respectfully
- Comfortable addressing performance, attendance, and safety concerns
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Able to manage several crews or job locations at the same time
- Able to use a smartphone or tablet for communication, scheduling, photos, and documentation
- Valid driver’s licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract
- Class 3 licence and equipment operating experience are considered assets
- Reliable transportation to and from our shop in Transcona
- Able to work outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Flexible availability during winter weather events

The ideal candidate is organized, safety-minded, dependable, and comfortable taking responsibility. They should be able to keep employees productive while maintaining a professional and respectful work environment.
This person must understand that supervision involves more than assigning tasks. They will also be responsible for ensuring employees are properly trained, using equipment safely, wearing required PPE, completing documentation, and following company procedures.
Position Details

- Hours will vary throughout the year, particularly during winter weather events
- Wage will be based on experience, qualifications, licensing, and supervisory ability
- Opportunities for increased responsibility may be available as the company continues to develop its COR safety program
