We are looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join an energy and natural resources organization in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Contract basis. This short-term opportunity is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accountant who can quickly contribute to month-end activities, account analysis, and day-to-day financial operations. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with regular in-office collaboration and requires someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal ramp-up time.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries and adjusting entries to support accurate month-end and period-end close activities.
- Complete account reconciliations for the general ledger, including intercompany balances and foreign currency transactions.
- Review accruals, prepaid expenses, and supporting schedules to ensure financial records are complete and current.
- Assist with file preparation and financial reporting deliverables required for internal accounting processes.
- Maintain the accuracy of accounting data within the organization's financial systems, including Sage X3 where applicable.
- Investigate discrepancies across accounts and resolve variances in a timely manner.
- Support ongoing accounting operations during a contract coverage period and help maintain continuity across the finance team.
- Contribute to process-related accounting tasks, including work connected to budgeting or system-related financial activities when needed.
- At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience in an intermediate-level or similar finance role.
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation.
- Experience handling intercompany accounting and multi-currency transactions.
- Proven ability to support month-end close, including accruals, prepaid entries, and balance sheet schedules.
- Familiarity with financial systems such as Sage X3 is considered an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with in-office attendance two days per week.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities in a busy, deadline-driven setting.
