Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical AutoCAD Technician to join our engineering and design team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate electrical drawings, layouts, and construction documents for a variety of electrical and utility projects. You will work closely with engineers and project managers to produce high-quality CAD drawings while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. Experience with AGi32 lighting design software is considered an asset.
Duties
- Prepare, modify, and maintain electrical drawings, plans, layouts, and detailed construction documents using AutoCAD.
- Develop electrical power, lighting, and site servicing drawings in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards.
- Interpret engineering markups, electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical drawings to produce accurate CAD deliverables.
- Coordinate drawings with architects, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and other project stakeholders to ensure design accuracy.
- Revise drawings based on client, consultant, and municipal review comments.
- Maintain CAD standards, drawing organization, and documentation throughout all project phases.
- Assist in preparing permit, tender, and construction drawing packages.
- Perform quantity take-offs and update project documentation as required.
- Support electrical design teams by ensuring drawings comply with local electrical codes, utility requirements, and company drafting standards.
- Utilize AGi32 for lighting calculations and photometric analysis when required (preferred but not mandatory).
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical drafting.
- Experience preparing electrical construction drawings, site plans, lighting layouts, and single-line diagrams.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of electrical design standards, codes, and drafting practices.
- Experience in utility, commercial, industrial, or construction-related electrical projects is preferred.
- Familiarity with AGi32 lighting design software is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
