We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Swim Instructors & Swim Coaches to join our team for our Nepean Aquatic Centre. Since 2011, Hippo in the Bathtub has been a staple in the Ottawa area for providing top-quality swim instruction to thousands of children. Our pool facility, located on Antares Drive in Nepean, has four pools in which we offer group swim classes for children & adults, private coached lessons, aqua fitness classes, mermaid birthday parties, and aqua fitness classes.
Overview
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for swimming and education, with the ability to teach individuals of all ages and skill levels. As a Swim Instructor, you will play a vital role in promoting water safety and helping students develop their swimming skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Shifts Available
We currently only have part-time shifts available at this time. Mainly weekdays between 4:00 - 7:30 pm and all day on weekends. Currently hiring for the fall session.
Duties
- Conduct swim lessons for individuals and groups, tailoring instruction to meet the needs of each student.
- Educate students on water safety practices and techniques to ensure a safe swimming experience.
- Monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement to foster improvement.
- Maintain a positive and engaging learning atmosphere that motivates students to achieve their swimming goals.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the pool area before, during, and after lessons.
- Communicate effectively with students and their families regarding progress, concerns, or any necessary adjustments to lessons.
Requirements
- Previous experience in swimming instruction or coaching is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of swim techniques and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate effectively.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude towards teaching others.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Certification in Bronze Cross (or NLS) and Standard First Aid + CPR C
- Must be physically fit and comfortable in the water.
Pay Details:
- Depending on experience, hourly pay rates will vary between $22 - $24 per hour for instructors.
