Assistant Controller – Consulting - Public Companies (Vancouver)
Our client is a respected consulting firm in downtown Vancouver, known for its deep expertise supporting small to mid‑sized public companies in the resource sector. The firm provides outsourced financial leadership, including full‑cycle accounting, financial reporting and strategic advisory services for clients with sophisticated reporting needs.
Role Overview
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in overseeing complex public‑company engagements and acting as a senior technical resource within the firm. This position is well‑suited for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a client‑facing environment and is comfortable managing high‑stakes reporting cycles.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of general ledgers and underlying accounting processes for assigned public‑company clients
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, and supporting working papers
- Provide IFRS technical guidance and ensure compliance with evolving reporting standards
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and contribute to regulatory filings and strategic planning
- Partner directly with client CFOs and CEOs, offering financial insight and operational support
- Manage audit and review engagements, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors
- Identify process improvements and contribute to best‑practice development across the firm
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a resource based public company or with a CPA firm with public‑company experience
- CPA designation (senior CPA students with strong public company experience will be considered)
- Advanced knowledge of IFRS and public‑company reporting requirements
- Demonstrated experience drafting or auditing financial statements, notes, and supporting documentation
- Strong technical aptitude with multiple accounting platforms and advanced Excel capability
- Proven ability to manage deadlines, communicate with senior executives, and oversee complex files

- Salary Range: $80,000–$95,000
