Crisis Intervention Workers – Relief/Call-In
Description:
A Crisis Intervention Worker – Relief/Call-In works in conjunction with the Grace Sparkes House team to provide shelter and support for women and their children who are experiencing family violence. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Duties Include:
Conducting assessments and providing non-judgmental supportive counseling. Assisting women navigate through various services such as health care, court proceedings, housing authorities, etc., and advocates to outside agencies on their behalf. Answering, recording, and assessing all crisis calls/in- person visits. Responding to family violence situations using non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
Planning, organizing, and implementing in-house programs. Involvement in community development and public awareness initiatives is an integral component of this position.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education with an undergraduate degree in Social Sciences, Psychology/Sociology or related field is desired, however, a combination of relevant education and work experience will be considered. An understanding of family violence through a feministic analysis is required combined with a sensitivity to the needs of abused women and their children. Excellent communication skills and relevant knowledge of local and provincial services are expected. First Aid, Mental Health First Aid and
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are considered assets. A Certificate of Conduct is required.
Working Hours:
Shift Work including days, nights, weekends and holidays on a call-in basis.
Rate of Pay:
As per the Group Homes Master Collective Agreement CG-33.
