The Automotive Service Advisor is the primary point of contact between customers and the service department. This role is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience, accurately identifying vehicle concerns, recommending necessary maintenance and repairs, and ensuring timely follow-up throughout the service process. The Service Advisor plays a critical role in customer retention, CSI performance, and overall dealership profitability.
Greet customers promptly and professionally upon arrival
Listen carefully to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle issues
Open and manage repair orders in accordance with dealership procedures
Provide clear explanations of recommended maintenance and repairs
Prepare estimates and obtain proper customer authorization
Communicate effectively with technicians regarding diagnostics and repair timelines
Keep customers informed of repair status, additional findings, and completion times
Ensure all work is completed as promised and vehicle delivery exceeds expectations
Review completed repairs with customers at vehicle pick-up
Handle customer concerns or complaints with professionalism and urgency
Maintain high CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) scores
Follow up with customers after service visits to ensure satisfaction
Promote maintenance packages and recommended services ethically and confidently
Maintain organized, accurate documentation and service records
Previous automotive service advising experience preferred
Strong knowledge of automotive systems and maintenance schedules
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Strong sales and closing skills
Proficient in dealership management systems (DMS)
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
