Job Overview
The Contracted FSCD Early Childhood Educator is a dedicated professional responsible for supporting the development and well-being of young children, including those with disabilities, with our Childcare Centre. This role involves creating a nurturing, inclusive learning environment tailored to individual needs. The educator will collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to promote positive growth and learning outcomes for children in early childhood settings. The position emphasizes hands-on one to one support for a current child in our Toddler Classroom who will greatly benefit from an individual with an understanding of their unique needs in order to foster developmental progress through engaging activities. This will be a long term position for this child.
Responsibilities.
- Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, inclusive and physical growth.
- Support children in daily routines, including feeding, toileting, and behavioral management.
- Collaborate closely with families and caregivers to ensure consistency in care and educational strategies.
- Maintain detailed documentation of each child's progress and communicate effectively with team members and families.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and abilities, ensuring an inclusive environment.
- Uphold safety standards and promote a positive, respectful atmosphere within the classroom setting.
Skills
- Level 3 Certification is required.
- Education in Special Needs an asset.
- Documented experience working with children with diverse needs in early childhood education settings.
- Knowledge of special education practices and working with individuals with disabilities.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, families, and team members.
- Classroom experience that demonstrates the ability to manage diverse needs and behaviors.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies for different learning styles and developmental levels.
- Compassionate approach to working with children who have special needs or developmental delays.
