Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician to support fabrication shop operations in Nisku, AB. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting instrumentation and control systems used in industrial fabrication and production environments.This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and hands-on experience working with industrial instrumentation and control systems in a shop setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial instrumentation and control devices.
- Work with pressure, temperature, level, and flow instruments used in fabrication and testing environments.
- Perform loop checks, calibration, and functional testing of instrumentation systems.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Support installation and commissioning of control systems, panels, and field instrumentation.
- Diagnose faults in instrumentation systems and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
- Maintain accurate calibration records, inspection logs, and maintenance documentation.
- Support preventative maintenance programs for shop equipment and systems.
- Collaborate with electricians, welders, and maintenance teams to ensure operational efficiency.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician certification (Red Seal preferred).
- Industrial instrumentation experience in fabrication, oil & gas, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of instrumentation principles and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Experience with calibration tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Solid knowledge of instrumentation standards and safety procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in fabrication shop or modular construction environments.
- Familiarity with PLC systems and basic control system integration.
- Experience with commissioning and pre-commissioning activities.
- Strong background in preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Experience working with pressure testing and system verification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment with noise, dust, and industrial activity.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when required.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, or around active industrial equipment.
- Ability to stand, bend, and perform hands-on technical tasks for extended periods.
