Position Summary
The Western Fair is seeking motivated and dependable Cooks to join our Food & Beverage team during our annual 10-day fair. Working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, Cooks are responsible for preparing high-quality food while maintaining food safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in busy kitchens and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards.
- Operate grills, fryers, ovens, and other kitchen equipment safely.
- Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Ensure food is prepared and served quickly during peak service periods.
- Assist with food preparation and stocking throughout each shift.
- Maintain clean and organized kitchen work areas.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Monitor inventory and notify supervisors of product shortages.
- Assist with opening, closing, and cleaning duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous cooking or food preparation experience is preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to food quality and safety.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the Western Fair.
- Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.

Hiring Process
Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and selected candidates will be contacted for an interview.
Successful applicants will be expected to attend mandatory paid orientation and position-specific training sessions scheduled throughout late August and early September. Training dates will be communicated during the hiring process.
The Western Fair is a 10-day event, and successful candidates are expected to be available for the duration of the Fair, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Pay: $17.60-$19.00 per hour
