Fire Safety & Suppression Technician Job Overview
Perform installation, inspection, testing, service, and repair on kitchen hood suppression systems and fire extinguishers following codes set by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Local Fire Departments
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform inspection, testing, service, and repairs as required for kitchen hood suppression systems and fire extinguishers
- Troubleshoot and perform service and repair of kitchen hood suppression systems and fire extinguishers
- Post inspection, cleanup, recharge, testing and certifications
- Evaluate customer site for additional equipment and services that customers may require within the company product offerings
- Complete client files and communicate with customers and head office
- Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations, electronically and manually
- Maintain a good positive relationship with the customer and pass on information to the appropriate person for follow up on quotes, questions, or concerns
- Maintain company vehicle in a clean and orderly fashion, stocked with parts, equipment and supplies necessary to perform the job efficiently
- Maintain equipment and tools needed to safely perform the job
- Must be comfortable with heights, working on ladders and in confined spaces
Qualifications:
- Must possess the ability to read and write professionally and calculate basic math
- Must possess the knowledge and ability to understand and operate basic computer functions, operating systems
- Must be able to learn and use industry-specific devices and software.
- Must currently have a valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving abstract
- GREAT TO HAVE, but not required! Industry certifications for fire safety and suppression technicians (ex. Fire extinguishers, Kidde, Range Guard, Amerex)

Working Conditions:
- Flexible work shifts dependent on customer needs and travel requirements
- Some occasional work on nights, weekends, and/or holidays, which could include overtime and varies based on client needs
- Will be exposed to all kinds of work environments, varying from hot to cold temperatures and exposure to fire extinguisher powder
- Occasional overnight travel to customer locations
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for this position in accordance with safety standards
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting and carrying of ladders, toolboxes, equipment, parts, tools, equipment, cabling
- Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds safely
- Frequent walking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, and raising hands overhead
Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Permanent
Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
