Counsellor/Facilitator – Promising Practice
18.75 hours per week
Limited Term until December 31, 2026
CIWA's Uncovering Promising Futures-Engaging Men and Boys Project is a WAGE funded initiative aimed at advancing gender equality by developing and testing a culturally responsive program model for immigrant and refugee men and boys in Alberta. The project focuses on preventing gender-based violence (GBV) and promoting healthy relationships, accountability, and emotional well-being within newcomer communities.
The Project Counselor / Facilitator is responsible for delivering structured program sessions to immigrant and refugee men and boys using a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approach. This is a front-line service delivery position focused on participant engagement, individual and group facilitation, and accurate documentation to support program evaluation.
Given the nature of this program, which involves building trust with immigrant and refugee men and boys on sensitive topics including gender-based violence, masculinity, and healthy relationships, a male-identifying candidate is considered a bona fide occupational requirement for this position. We encourage male-identifying applicants from all backgrounds to apply, and we especially welcome those with lived experience as newcomers to Canada.
