PRINCIPAL FOCUS:
Under the direction of Management, a Technical Sales Specialist – Mandarin and Cantonese Speaking, is responsible for providing expert consultation and complete solutions to address customer needs. This position will play a key role in serving and supporting Mandarin- and Cantonese-speaking customers, providing technical consultation and building long-term client relationships within that community. You will also participate in customer events, ie. educational seminars, product overviews, and technical training sessions.
Core Responsibilities
1. Photo and Video Sales & Customer Consultation
- Provide expert consultation to professional and aspiring video creators, including filmmakers, videographers, content creators, broadcasters, and corporate media teams.
- Recommend complete photo and/or video production solutions including:
- Stabilization and rigging
- Monitoring and recording solutions
- Streaming and production tools
- Translate customer needs into complete production kits.
- Maintain strong relationships with repeat customers.
- Support high-value transactions and custom system builds.
2. Technical Expertise & Product Knowledge
- Maintain advanced knowledge of a broad range of video equipment including products from companies such as Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Blackmagic Design, Leica, and Hasselblad
- Stay current with trends in:
- Mirrorless video production
- Evaluate new products and emerging technologies.
3. Product Assortment & Merchandising Input
- Collaborate with Product Management and Purchasing teams to:
- Identify products the store should carry
- Provide feedback on customer demand and trends
- Suggest additions or removals from the product assortment
- Recommend demo products and key items for in-store focus.
4. Store Display & Experience Consultation
- Recommend the photo and video department displays and demo stations.
- Recommend interactive demo experiences where customers can test equipment.
- Support product launches, demo days, and recommend vendor showcase changes.
5. Vendor & Industry Engagement
- Industry events and trade shows
- Support in-store vendor demonstrations.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Strong working knowledge of
- Editing and post-production workflows
- Must be fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese
Sales & Customer Service
- Consultative selling skills.
- Ability to design complete production solutions.
- Experience with professional customers.
Organizational & Merchandising Skills
- Experience with product displays and retail merchandising.
- Ability to analyze product trends and demand.
Preferred Experience
- Professional background in:
- Experience working in a professional camera or production equipment retail environment.
- Familiarity with editing platforms such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.
