HR GENERALIST
This is a 1-year contract role with the potential to convert into a permanent position based on performance and business needs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
As our HR Generalist, you'll be the primary HR lead for the firm — and you won't be stepping into a fully built HR department. You'll be helping build it.
- Own the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment through offboarding
- Lead full-cycle recruitment: posting roles, screening candidates, coordinating interviews with partners, and attending school job fairs
- Build and continuously improve I&A's HR infrastructure — policies, procedures, templates, and employee documentation
- Draft and maintain company policies, employee handbook content, and HR forms
- Support compliance with the Employment Standards Act (ESA), Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), Ontario Human Rights Code, WSIB requirements, and other Ontario employment legislation
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations, ensuring staff feel supported and heard
- Administer payroll changes, benefits enrollments, and HRIS records accurately and confidentially
- Advise managers and partners on HR policy, employee relations, and performance management
- Design and lead employee morale and engagement initiatives — recognition programs, team-building events, and staff surveys
- Lead training and development initiatives that support staff career growth
- Maintain personnel files, employment agreements, and organizational records
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate HR processes as the firm grows
- Support health, safety, and wellness initiatives that contribute to employee well-being
WHAT YOU BRING
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources or a related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an HR Generalist, HR Operations, People Operations, or Coordinator capacity; experience in professional services is an asset
- Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code) and WSIB requirements
- Demonstrated experience building or improving HR policies, processes, and documentation from the ground up
- Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism
- Ability to balance longer-term HR projects with hands-on day-to-day administration
- Comfortable working directly with partners and senior leadership, with a proactive, detail-oriented approach
- Bonus: experience with an HRIS platform (e.g. Powerpay/Dayforce), CHRP designation (or working toward one), experience creating employee engagement or wellness programs, and valid driver’s license

Base Compensation
$60,000–$80,000. Placement within the range is determined through the interview process and is based on a candidate's knowledge, skills, and qualifications for the role.
