Your Opportunity:
Works under the general supervision and guidance of the Public Health Area Manager/Care Manager. Performs a variety of general reception, administrative, and office duties to support the Well Child and School Health programs at Village Square Community Health Centre. Is the initial point of contact for clients seeking public health services. Requires effective communication (both verbal and written) with the public, clients, health care staff, and other external providers. Is responsible for processing high volumes of client and staff inquiries, schedules and books client appointments, data entry functions in the public health records management system. Updates demographic information in Connect Care. Utilizes the community electronic scheduling system. This position schedules and books appointments for clients and is responsible for the data entry functions and the public health records management systems within the health centre. This position updates demographic information in the Connect Care computer system; utilizes the community electronic scheduling system; creates and manages Connect Care group assignment; and completes data verification. Maintains and orders inventory and performs other clerical office administrative duties as required. Extended periods of standing, sitting with repetitive hand movements (keyboarding and telephone handling) are required. Transferring and transporting, lifting, (must be able to lift 35 lbs.) carrying, pulling, pushing and during the entire shift required. Working in a busy, noisy work environment and the ability to manage high clinic volumes are also required. As the first point of client entry to the clinic, it is critical for the incumbent to possess friendly, welcoming communication skills both in person and on the telephone.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Post-Secondary training in medical office administration, unit clerk, or comparable course is required. Current experience supporting a Community Health Centre Vaccination Program required. Computer courses including the use of MS window, Excel are required. Experience with Connect Care required. Accurate and proficient keyboarding skills (50-60 wpm are required). Ability to adhere to the rules regarding data entry protocol, client confidentiality and records management are required. Excellent knowledge of the English language both written and oral is required. Demonstrated ability to work as a contributing member in a team environment is required. Physically able to perform all duties of the Administrative Support 3 role. Demonstrated ability to work with fixed deadlines and cope with frequent interruptions.
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of current experience within the last 3 years supporting a Well Child Program. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and make independent decisions regarding data entry with minimal supervision. Experience with complex multi-cultural populations and children preferred.
