Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Grower Assistant to support our horticultural operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about gardening and plant cultivation to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. The Grower Assistant will work closely with our cultivation team to ensure healthy plant growth, proper maintenance, and efficient operation of growing systems. Duties
- Assist with irrigation setup, monitoring, and adjustments to ensure optimal watering schedules for plants
- Support horticultural practices including planting, pruning, and pest management
- Operate basic mechanical tools and equipment used in plant cultivation and maintenance
- Use hand tools to perform tasks such as trimming, staking, or harvesting plants
- Conduct routine inspections of plants for signs of disease or deficiencies and report findings
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of growing systems, including climate controls
- Perform heavy lifting of supplies, soil, or plants as needed to support daily operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the grow area to promote a safe working environment
- Support team members in implementing new gardening techniques or system upgrades
Skills
- Basic knowledge of irrigation systems and horticultural practices
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate hand tools safely and effectively
- Strong understanding of gardening principles and plant care techniques
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds) as part of routine tasks
- Basic math skills for measuring soil amendments, water volumes, or adjusting system settings
- Familiarity with gardening equipment and tools is a plus
- Good physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for maintaining plant health records and schedules
