Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Workers (PSWs), Health Care Aides (HCAs), or Health Support Workers (HSWs) to join our team serving the Pembroke and Petawawa communities. This role involves providing high-quality, person-centered care to individuals across assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospice settings, and private homes. The ideal candidate will have experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring specialized care such as dementia or hospice support. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in clients’ lives through compassionate caregiving and support.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with daily activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance
- Provide medication administration and monitor health status as directed by healthcare professionals
- Support patients with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met
- Engage in light cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
- Offer companionship and emotional support to individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments
- Assist with mobility and transfer activities, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Support patients with activities of daily living in home care or facility settings
- Document care provided accurately and communicate effectively with healthcare teams
- Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures
Experience
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, hospice care, or home care is highly desirable
- Experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring dementia or hospice care is preferred
- Knowledge of medication administration and patient care techniques is an asset
- Experience in caregiving roles involving heavy lifting, meal preparation, and personal hygiene support is beneficial
- Certification as a PSW, HCA, HSW, or related healthcare qualification is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level applicants willing to learn on the job
