Job Overview
We are looking for 4 horticultural labourers to work at our nursery farm from approximately March 10, 2027 until November 23, 2027. Employment will be seasonal, full time, days and weekends. Working hours will be from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, 6 days per week. Wages will be $17.95 per hour, paid biweekly. Work is rural, at 148 Concession 6 Rd. East, Millgrove, ON L8B 1M4. The work site environment will be outdoors, sometimes in confined spaces, wet/damp, odours, hot, cold/refrigerated, and non-smoking.
Duties
- Budding trees, cleaning the crops, clearing and collecting brush and debris from fields, pens and other work areas, cutting horticultural crops, working with harvested produce, greenhouse cleaning, planting and harvesting vegetables, removing suckers, tying plants, training trees, weeding, spraying plants with pesticides.
- Pruning trees and plants, mixing/preparing soil, planting bulbs and seeds, potting/repotting plants, transplanting seedlings and rooted cuttings, applying fertilizers, reporting signs of insect or disease damage, grafting trees, watering plants, cleaning work area.
- Products include fruit trees, deciduous trees, berry bushes, cut flowers and vegetables.
- Follow safety procedures at all times to prevent accidents and promote a safe working environment.
- You will require your own transportation to our nursery location in Millgrove. Travel expenses will not be paid by the employer and public transportation is not available.
- No education or experience is required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, digging, and standing for extended periods.
- Enthusiasm for outdoor work and a willingness to learn new skills in horticulture.
