Our client, a well-established not-for-profit organization is seeking a hands-on Human Resources Generalist to support the day-to-day HR and payroll functions of the organization.
Reporting to the Senior Director this role is responsible for providing practical HR support across a broad range of areas, including recruitment, onboarding, employee and labour relations, payroll administration, policy and compliance, health and safety, training coordination, employee records, and general HR administration.
This is a sole HR role and is well suited to an experienced, service-oriented HR professional who is comfortable working directly with managers, employees, volunteers, students, and other workers. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting a respectful, inclusive, compliant, and well-organized workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day HR support to managers, employees, volunteers, students, and other workers.
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, orientation, employee changes, leaves of absence, and offboarding processes.
- Administer payroll-related processes, including maintaining accurate employee/payroll information, processing changes, and liaising with internal and external contacts as required.
- Maintain employee records, HRIS/payroll data, personnel files, training records, and related documentation.
- Support employee and labour relations matters, including attendance, performance, workplace concerns, grievances, accommodations, and documentation.
- Assist with policy administration, legislative compliance, collective agreement requirements, and HR best practices.
- Support health and safety administration, including incident reporting, WSIB, return-to-work processes, training records, and Joint Health and Safety Committee support.
- Prepare HR correspondence, forms, reports, letters, and other employment-related documentation.
- Support workplace culture, communication, employee engagement, and respectful workplace initiatives.
This is an in-person role requiring full-time hours (37.5 hours per week), primarily during weekdays, with occasional evenings or weekends as required. The work is based in a private office within a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities. Regular interaction with employees (workers), volunteers, and stakeholders is required. The role may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Experience:
- Payroll Administration: 1 year (preferred)
- Progressive HR: 5 years (preferred)
