Job Overview
Fundamentals Childcare Centre is seeking a dedicated School Age Program Team Member to support and engage children in our after-school and summer programs. This role involves creating a nurturing and caring learning environment for school age children. Working independently, and part of a collaborative team, plans and facilitates engaging age-appropriate activities for children (Kindergarten to age 12) while appropriately guiding behaviours in a safe, inclusive environment. This is a split shift 7:00 - 9:00am / 2:00 - 5:30pm September to June and full time for Spring break, summer and school closure days.
Responsibilities
- Collaboratively develop, maintain, coordinate & implement engaging age appropriate program planning that meet the cognitive, social, emotional and behavioral needs for school age children (kindergarten to age 12 years).
- Facilitate emergent activities based on interests & needs of children.
- Organize and execute field trips on full day care days (ie: spring break/summer).
- Supervise a group of children and ensure their safety and well-being (inside and outside).
- Utilize strong group management to lead and direct group activities.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Use age-appropriate techniques & strategies in guiding behaviour.
- Use flexible thinking and creative approaches to adapt quickly to situations.
- Maintain knowledge of strategies utilized for inclusion.
- Ensure program standards are upheld and implement company policies & procedures.
- Maintain an organized, clean and safe learning environment for children.
- Responsible for the sanitation of the classroom and classroom materials to meet safety standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Experience working with children in a Before & After School care program or recreational setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with children, parents, and team members
- Ability to create engaging, fun, and educational activities tailored to various age groups
- Knowledge of child development
- Patience, creativity, and a caring attitude towards children's needs
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
