Superintendent – Commercial Construction

Our client, a well-established and respected construction firm, is seeking a Superintendent to join their team and lead on-site operations for exciting commercial and institutional construction projects.

The Opportunity
As Superintendent, you will play a critical role in overseeing daily site operations, coordinating subcontractors and field teams, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in alignment with quality expectations.
You will work closely with project leadership, trades, consultants, and clients to create a collaborative site environment focused on safety, accountability, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and promote a strong safety culture by implementing and maintaining comprehensive site safety practices
- Oversee daily construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, and to quality standards
- Build strong working relationships with subcontractors, trades, suppliers, and project stakeholders
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to field teams and site personnel
- Support project scheduling, manpower planning, and milestone tracking
- Review drawings, specifications, and construction documents to identify potential challenges and solutions
- Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring expectations around safety, quality, and productivity are met
- Administer site documentation including daily reports, inspections, change orders, and schedule updates
- Identify and resolve site issues while collaborating with project managers and project teams
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship, organization, and professionalism on site
What You Bring
- Progressive experience as a Superintendent within commercial and/or institutional construction
- Experience managing large-scale construction projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, drawings, specifications, and building practices
- Proven ability to lead subcontractors, trades, and field teams effectively
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction-related software
Assets Include:
- Trade background (carpentry experience preferred)
- Gold Seal Certification
- Experience with P3, Design-Build, or other complex project delivery models
