The Opportunity
Paragon Living is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Deficiency Carpenter to join our Construction Team. The Deficiency Carpenter is responsible for completing deficiency repairs, finishing work, touch-ups across multi-family residential projects to ensure buildings are completed to the highest quality standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with Site Supervisors, Project Managers, Quality Coordinators, and Trade Partners to resolve deficiencies, and ensure suites, common areas, and amenity spaces are occupancy-ready. This role requires strong carpentry skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional workmanship throughout the final stages of construction and post-occupancy service.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Complete construction deficiencies and corrective work identified during quality inspections, consultant reviews, and project turnover activities.
- Perform finishing carpentry work including trim, baseboards, casings, doors, hardware, cabinetry, shelving, and millwork repairs.
- Complete minor drywall repairs, patching, caulking, touch-ups, and other finishing work to ensure high-quality project completion.
- Review, track, and close out deficiency and punch list items in accordance with project schedules and quality standards.
- Conduct inspections of completed repairs to ensure workmanship meets company standards and project specifications.
- Coordinate with Site Supervisors, Project Managers, Quality Coordinators, and trade partners to resolve deficiencies efficiently.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 3 years of carpentry or finishing carpentry experience in multi-family residential construction.
- Experience completing project deficiencies, building close-outs, and warranty repairs.
- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and finishing practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and deficiency reports.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Experience working within occupied residential buildings is considered an asset.
- General knowledge of drywall, painting, flooring, cabinetry, door and hardware adjustments, and finishing repairs.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and handle construction materials and equipment.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable transportation.
